So yeah, here are some of my accomplishments in the food arena so far.. Some are with the help of junwei, and some are the results of my trial and error method of cooking.. but well, so long as they are edible.. waha!
It's honestly a challenge to have to think of different dishes to cook for lunch everyday.. hmmm.. I think I'm running out of ideas soon. Thanks for Ah Yi for giving me all her recipes. I think that will help me to persevere for another period of time. Keke. Jia you shuang shuang!!
My first ABC soup! All chopped and cooked on my own. Jw said my potato were cut into too small pieces though. Grrrr.
My first fried rice. Yeah I know it was a teeny weeny sticky. But well, it tasted okie. Hehe.
My first sweet potato soup. All becos my dear hubby brought over 10 sweet potatoes from Willy's (he said you don't usually see sweet potatoes here) and wanted to cook for his crew. But ended up he had hangover on the day itself and gave up the idea of cooking. So we were stuck with a whole bunch of sweet potatoes in our house. I tried to grow three of them, but failed, and I still have so many left! Arghh. Already cooked sweet potato soup and sweet potato porridge liaoz. Waha.
Learing to cook braised pig trotters from jw. Hee. First time we are cooking it since I got here. Lu Zhu Jiao!!!! Though I'm not a fan of it, I'm determined to cook it for mummy when I get back to singapore. She loves it!
My first fried chicken wings in sweden. Yeah yeah. Marinated by myself! And with tips from jw's parents to use zha ji fen and xia jiang ji fen together to coat the chicken when you fry, here's the result. Crispy yummy chicken! Haha.
Our first furong dan. Clever idea of jw, who whipped up this dish. He added mushroom and shrimps, and I insisted to put in some crab meat too. Hee. Tasted real good in the end!! =) My first chao mian for lunch. Fried noodles! Hmmm. Seems a bit dry, but good enough for a first try. Waha.
Oh yeah. My mini surprise for jw during lunch one fine day. Green curry chicken! Waha. Hmm. Yeah I had the help of the instant Thai curry mix. But well, it still needed some effort to chop the chicken, marinate, prepare the coconut mix and fry and cook before the dish was ready mah. =)
Oooo. My first pineapple fried rice. Amazing right, where did the pineapple come from. Haha. It's CANNED pineapple. But the instruction says it's okie. Well. Yeah. Surprise dinner for jw, who was sick that day and so I was thinking wouldn't it be nice to come home to a kitchen smelling of food and you don't have to prepare a single thing and dinner is ready for you?
Finally, my first self cooked 4-dish dinner, in celebration of our 5th monthliversary after our ROM. Oh yeah. 5 months as hubby and wife. The fried vege dish was nice, and my chicken and egg dishes were done according to ah yi's recipes. The steamed egg was nice! Waha. Smoother this time cos' I sieved the mixture before steaming it. And added some shrimps on top. And my seaweed and egg soup, hmmm, what else can I say besides there was an overflooding of seaweeds. Haha. Put WAY too much seaweed. Aiyohhhhh. But well. Besides that, all was okie. =)
Hoho. My prezzie on our 5th monthlivery. 2 red roses, 2 pink roses, and 2 white roses. Keke. Pretty pretty flowers... Thank you junwei.. =)
