Yeah yeah. So after sardines & luncheon meat, I decided to be more bold one morning when jw was at work. Every morning, I will wake up and think about what we're going to eat for lunch, be it leftovers from last night or fresh out from the fridge. Guess that's what all the wives go through here? Well, it's not very me, but I guess I have to go through it and enjoy the whole process. Wake up, wash up, on the TV, on my lappie, and at 10.30am get ready to cook lunch (or heat up lunch, keke). Then be all ready to wait for jw to come back. After he eats and goes, wash the dishes, pots and pans, do the laundry once in awhile, clean up the house, decorate the house, check online for news of the masters and jap course, watch DVDs, wait for jw to come back. Kinda routine right? Waha. Yet to learn well on how to navigate around the town, but hopefully soon I will and I can walk to the supermarket to grab food or walk and shop around (not that there's much to see larr). Also wanna try driving if I can. Steering wheel is on the left, so well, hmmm, guess I need time to get accustomed to it. Back to my story, well, for lunch, I tried to cook mee sua in chicken broth. Keke. Not that hard, becos basically I grabbed japalang ingredients and dumped it in. Chicken wings, chicken stock, mushroom, egg, mee sua. HAHA. Always see dad cook it at home, so finally I could try. Lalala.
My hubby trying out my mee sua. Wahaha. I think even if I cook the most inedible or disgusting food, he will still give me the thumbs up. Hehe. Hmmm. No lar. Actually I think he will comment but help me to improve. Wahaha. Dat's what hubbies and wifeys are for right? To help each other to be a better person in life. But thanks for appreciating my food. Waha.
Another day I tried to fry cabbage with dried shrimps. Well. I always loved Beijing bao cai, esp the way dat popo cooks it at her house. Somehow, the swedish cabbage is abit different in taste, and harder too. But well. Gotta get used to the different types of vege here. So here you go, my first fried vege.
And during the weekend, I realised my packet of milk that I bought from ICA (the supermarket here) is gonna expire!! Arrggghhh. So, I went to the shipment boxes to dig out my treasures. Wahaha. Yeah!!! KOKO KRUNCH & HONEY STARS!! Jw doesn't eat them, so I'm gonna have them all to myself. Wahaha. I love cereal!!!
Well, on one afternoon, we were thinking of wad to eat for dinner, and jw suggested chicken rice. Sounds good to me!! Never did know how to cook the rice to have the chicken smell. Popo does it every CNY. Well. So jw taught me step by step. Not that I will remember all of them cos I didn't write it down and I dun tink my brain has that much storage space. But well, look at him frying the uncooked rice! I never did know you can do it that way. Hehe. He said david's mother-in-law taught him to do that before you put the rice in the cooker. Tastes better.
Guess wad? Haha. On Sunday nite, we had wantons for dinner! I spent like 1hr just wrapping them nicely, and used the leftover meat to do meatballs. Keke. Was watching Rainie Yang's Huan Huan Ai on TV. Jw says it must be cos I'm not concentrating so I'm taking so long to get the wantons done. =( Grrrr.
And check this out. Yesterday we wanted to go to the Indian restaurant to have our dinner, but jw decided we shall have a try and cook our own curry dishes! Woho. So we did it. Chicken curry (with the help of spices from Muthu and Shan), vegetable curry, together with fried Papadum!! That was my favourite. Hehe. Crispy, deep fried, super oily Papadum. =) *drools*
Ended up our vege curry was more tasty than the chicken. Hehe. More coconut-ty. The chicken curry had a mixture of many fragrances, too strong for my liking. Keke. But yayyy! Our first Indian meal. Hehe.
I love the feeling of us cooking together, more than anything else. Even if the food turns out horrible, at least we put our hearts and hands together to create it. I dunno. That's how I feel. Guess I'm not a food gourmet expert nor connoisseur, so I dun really care bout the end product more than I care about the process.
That's it for now. Till the next yummy blog!!
