Pretty Pretty Paris...

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Yup. Back to our Europa trip. The 3rd destination. The city i loved the most. The city of light. Paris Oh Paris!

It's really an indescribable feeling, like you've heard so much bout Eiffel, read so much bout The Louvre in Da Vinci Code, seen so much of Paris in movies, in magazines, in travel books. But finally, here you are, walking along the streets of Paris itself. It simply felt so wonderful. I dunnoe why but being in Paris itself makes me a happie gal. =)

Image Hosted by ImageShack.usImage Hosted by ImageShack.us Wow. 4 full days ahead of us. 4 wonderful, perfect days full of sweet memories for us. We stayed in a hotel called Tryp De Saux. Took us quite awhile to find it, cos it's quite ulu. But hey, it's less than 2km from eiffel! Wow. That means we can see the tower everytime we walk out of or back into our hotel. Woohoo. Eiffel in the early morning, Eiffel in the evening, Eiffel at nite. Thanks to jw for finding such a good location. Hee. Villa De Saux was the road name. The room was quite clean n comfy, although of cos not as nice as hilton. But it was better than we expected (I think we had rather low expectations, better to be pleasantly surprised than to be disappointed rite??) and this was already more than good enough for us. So long as we are together. =p

Well, i muz really say the metro system in Paris is so amazing! Practically brings you anywhere you want. Lonely Planet said there's no spot in paris that's more than 500m away from its nearest metro station. Cool rite? The metro n RER maps might seem confusing at first glance with all the multi-coloured coding and overlapping lines, but after awhile it's really easy to navigate. Hee. Even for a map idiot like me could read it. But hor, even wif such an accessible transport system, we still ended up walking for tens of kilometres when we were exploring the city. Haha.

Day 1
Eiffel Tower, Arc De Triomphe, Palace Chaillot, Invalides, Champs-Elysees

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us We had a real good close up of Eiffel in the day. Well, I think here alone we took tens of pics, or even hundred. (well, total I took about 1000 pics in paris) Jw would always like to experiment and take pics of me with the famous buildings/monuments standing tall over me in the background. Hee. But he always takes very nice pictures lar. Of me, of us, of the scenery. Chey, and I tot I was the one who studied visual communication. Wahaha. Anyway, Eiffel was magnificent! Yesh, it is just metal joined together but somehow I really admire Gustave for being the architect behind this giant tower. Was soooo looking forward to seeing Eiffel sparkle at night.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us Oh yeah, here is the magnificent Arc De Triomphe, where you stand tall at the intersection of a web of 12 avenues and witness a splendid view of Paris. We walked quite a long way to get here, and we must have climbed hundreds of steps along the spiral stairway to reach the top. Took videos of each other along the way, and took alot of videos/pics from all the angles at the top of the Arc. What I loved most was the view of Eiffel (yesh it had lit up!~) and the view of Champs-Elysees (their Orchard Rd). =)

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us This is Champs-Elysees as seen from Arc De Triomphe. I think I took nicer pics with my Canon Ixus 75, but too bad can't post here. Wahaha. But quite nice rite? I really love night scenery. Well, we also did some shopping at Champs-Elysees on our last day. Ate McDonalds (we ate alot of Macs on this trip!), visited the 7-storey LV building, but dun tink we bought anything. Waha. Woooo. We also caught the ending of Tour De France on this street during our last day. Way cool!! Took videos of them zooming past, think the cyclists rode as fast as a Ferrari could. Whoooooshhh. Amazing. Jw also bought a Tour De France kit, with a T-shirt, 2 wristbands (1 for me!), a teddy bear keychain (for me too!) and 4 magnets (wooo, all for him becos he's a magnet collector now).

Day 2
St Severine, Notre Dame, St Chapelle, Conceigerie, Rue De Rivoli, The Louvre, Hotel De Villa, Grand Palace, Palais Royal, Fun Fair

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us Yup, finally we found Notre Dame. & hey entrance was free! Ain't the building pretty? You should see the carvings up close, real delicate and skilfully done. But well, alot of buildings in Europe are like that. I love the stained glass in Notre Dame. What you see in books isn't exaggerated. You can really take pics like this one on the right. Woohoo. Real pretty.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us One of my most loved places in Paris. Where else, but The Louvre. I dunnoe why it draws me to it so much, but I won't mind coming back here time after time. I love the Pyramids, they look splendid; I love the works of art, even though I can't appreciate them deeply; I love the architecture; every inch of the walls and ceilings were so beautiful. Though we spent bout 4 hours inside, I think we didn't even complete one tenth of it. & oh, on Fridays after 6pm it's free for people under 25. Which means for me! Waha. But not for jw. Cos' he's old man liaoz. *chuckles*

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us Image Hosted by ImageShack.us Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

I finally saw the Mona Lisa. Wow. There were so many people crowded round her. She was shielded by this glass protector, but visitors were still allowed to take pics. Some say that this painting is fake, and that the real one has been hidden away somewhere. But well, I would still like to believe that this is real. hee. Woo. I also saw Da Vinci's paintings like Madonna of the Rocks. Tried hard to analyse what the audio guide was trying to tell me, but well, really very deep. Look at their ceilings. Ain't it magnificent? We took close-ups in every room that we went to. Really really pretty.

We had Jap food for dinner near The Louvre cos I really wanted to see how it looks at nite. Well, it didn't disappoint me.. =) Wait for me Louvre, one day I'll be back...

Day 3
Versailles, Montmarthe, Moulin Rouge, Sacre Coeur

Image Hosted by ImageShack.usWooo. Jw knew I really wanted to visit Versailles, so on Saturday, we took the RER to the outskirts of Paris. We visited the Versailles Palace and the Garden. & oh, we had a tiff here. The first and probably the last of our entire trip. All becos he said I was insistent on him quitting smoking, when I thought he was the one who wanted to kick the habit. haha. Right. Watever. Which couple doesn't bicker.. So long as can get over it can liaoz, hor?? Anyway, we were fine when we stepped into the Palace. Kaoz, so beautiful and so magnificent ley, how can anyone bear to get angry in here instead of admiring the splendor.. Keke. I love the Garden! You should see the flowers and the fountains, really pretty and grand. Love it love it love it.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.usAfter Versailles, we departed for Montmarthe, where the Sacre Coeur and Moulin Rouge are located. Looks sort of like their old town. We had Tibetian food for dinner! Hee. Jw was so gian. Cost us about S$60, which is considered around thImage Hosted by ImageShack.use norm there. We took alot of silly videos here too, like performing 'swallowing' the fork, 'swallowing' the serviette, acting like dharma blah blah. Wahaha. The people sitting beside us were so amused. Guess all this stuff will always be stored in our memories, won't it, jw? Anyway, I thought Sacre Coeur was really, really pretty. Greenish under the moonlight, and the pics we took were like those you only see in travel books or on computers after DI. Wow. & hey, montmarthe was so happening! Narrow streets, pubs, staircase landing where soooooo many were sitting there just to enjoy the night view of Paris and listening to some guy performing on his guitar. It felt so nice to be there and then, with jw, enjoying every moment of the nite. & that nite was our countdown to our 4th Anniversary. Hehe. Perfect. =) Like I said, Paris was Perfect. Lucky us.

Day 4
St Michel, Latin Quarter, Pantheon, Eiffel Tower Summit

Image Hosted by ImageShack.usWell, you know, we didn't eat breakfast almost everyday. Haha. Why? Cos we will sleep till 10plus 11am. Wahaha. LAZY PIGS. But then again, the hotel didn't provide us with complimentary breakfast too, so we saved $$ rite? Hee. But our afternoons and night time were fully utilized because every nite my legs ached like mad when we stepped back into our room. Oh, I had two crepes in Paris. One Nutella with banana, the other just plain sugar crepe. Hee. Nice. I like!! I know jw doesn't. Wahaha. Which is why I also pei him to go and eat things like Tibetian food and Indian food (yesh indian food! Two bryanis which cost us S$66!) Hehe. BUT, kai xin jiu hao.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us Eiffel, oh pretty Eiffel. Finally, we were going up up up. To the top. Hee. Today was our 4th Anniversary. 29 July 2007. I waited eagerly for this moment to arrive. There were 3 levels, and of cos, since you are there, might as well go up to the summit right?? Hee. We spent hours queueing and hours up there on the summit. Well. & then the best part of the trip happened. As we forgot to go get our anniversay presents at Champs-Elysees, we decided to split up there and then to get each other a gift from the souvenir shops. I got jw this little rugby ball with the EU flags, along with a sepia postcard of the glittering Eiffel at nite, saying "My life was colourless till you came along and put the sparkle into it..Happie 4th Anniversary" (smtg lidat lar, quite cheesy hor?) Jw bought me a pinkish necklace with a mini eiffel as the pendant. Nice! I like. Haha. & that was when we got engaged, there and then, on top of Eiffel, with the sunset behind us, and a baguette in our hands. Then when we got to the bottom of Eiffel, we lay down on the grass patch, side by side, witnessing the tower light up right in front of our eyes. Yesh, the Eiffel glitter that captured my heart and soul. Can you see it? It's like a dream, to me. Like a fantasy that I thought only happened in movies. Like a picture jumping right out of a fairy tale into reality. Ain't I the luckiest gal in the world? It ain't matter that there's no ring, ain't matter that we lost our valuables eventually, ain't matter so much now that we lost all our pics too. Because I guess I finally realised, what's important should really be kept in the heart. & like what jw says, our treasure is each other, not our pretty photos. Yar. I fully agree now.

Dear jw, thanks for asking me to be your fiancee. Eh, still remember last time u didn't even know what this word means. haha. 4 years liaoz, i think we saw each other grow up alot. You, from a party animal who likes to drink, gamble, smoke, to a 28-year-old man who is ever so filial to his parents and ready to take on family life and responsibilities. Me, from a chilidish, obstinate, ignorant teenager to a 24-year-old gal who has grown more mature, more understanding, and now also ready to move on to another phase of life. Well, this year ain't a good year for me. I suffered alot of heartaches along the way, but thank you, for being there for me each step of the way. I know you will read this when you return from sailing, and I just wanna say Happie 49th Monthliversary to us.. on this special day..

To others reading this post, ehhhh, sorry I didn't mean to be mushy, but the 29th of every month is a special day to me lar. keke. Well, hope you like my summary on Paris because I guess these were the highlights of my trip there. Hope we can all cherish whatever we have in front of us, and never take anything for granted, because when you lose it, that's when the world comes crumpling down and it takes ages to build it up again..

My PRIZED & MOST PRECIOUS collection of pics

Haha. So, indeed I lost my 2000 pics and 300 videos all thanks to the thief. BUT, look!! I got the below precious and invaluable drawings from none other than the Great Artist Mr Low Jiun Wee. Hehe. Yesh, he draws really well and he drew this for me when we lost our stuff. Awww. Thanks jw~ These are much more precious to me than any of the pics we lost. Why, you might ask, since there's no colour, and it's drawn with an ordinary pen on an ordinary notebook? Because every stroke contains the ingredient love, and you can't buy this with money. =) enjoy my mini art gallery! Woohoo. Try spotting us in every pic! keke. Au Revoir!!

It's a Secret..

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

This is my 100th post. Haha. I finally hit 100. =) & I've decided to blog on something that really got me inspired.

Watched Jay Chou's Secret last nite. Have you? I didn't think of watching since it started showing when I was in Europe, but everyone's telling me I should go listen to the songs, so well, I went with Pearlene (my TJ buddy) to watch it at Vivo yesterday.

W-O-W. That was my reaction to the show, really dunnoe how else to describe it. I didn't know it'll be dat good. Did see the news on Yu Le Bai Fen Bai that the show is breaking records in China during the opening week and Jay Chou looks set to defeat established director Zhang Yi Mou. Did also read in papers that Jay is directing a movie based on some of his real life experiences, which makes me wonder which. But I figure out it's probably the lovey-dovey and sweet stuff that the couple does. Really sweet. Simple things like fetching her home on his bike, eating ice cream and doing 'gan bei' (aka cheers) with ice cream cones, putting a finger on each other's cheek everytime they meet etc..

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

What I didn't expect was that it was really so good. The twist to the show (well, kinda expected but yet it's so skilfully done), the piano competition (aka dou qin), the dramatic ending, his vastly improved acting skills (I think he suits this kind of role much more than in Curse of Golden Flower), the ever-so-funny Anthony Wong as his dad (again!), the enchanting melodies whenever they play the piano, well, everything was just quite tastefully done and in a manner that I adore. Ehhh. But I guess everyone has different taste rite? so maybe i will like the show, but u won't. That's why we should always take movie reviews with a pinch of salt. Doesn't mean all 1-star shows are lousy and all 5-star shows ain't necessarily fantastic.

I cried during the show. Well. Guess it doesn't take much to make me shed tears in the first place. But well, my friends all said they didn't cry. Sometimes I wonder why it hits me so much. Even License to Wed made me tear. Why huh?? Hmmm.. dunnoe.. These movies just strike an emotional chord within me somehow, somewhere. But that's why I thoroughly enjoy watching movies too. Keke. Funny comedies, sad movies, action-packed thrillers, love stories, sci-fi plots. Anything. Believe I once told someone that that's something I learn from every movie or every drama that i watch. Dunno y. But there's always something I can reflect upon and ponder about. Well, maybe I think too much bah. But, that's just me.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

So, I really like this movie and kudos to Jay Chou for his commendable first time effort as a director cum producer cum male lead. One of the best Asian titles I've watched this year. & guess wad? Finally I'm putting in some effort to make my long time dream of taking up piano/keyboard lessons come true. Made a few calls to Yamaha and checked their website today. Hee. If my pocket allows, I WILL start a music course. Since my Cali fitness membership is also terminating in Nov and I'm just wasting my monthly membership. Wahaha. *imagines* Me playing the keyboard! Woohoo.. If only my Grade 1 teacher didn't pao qi me and migrate, if not maybe I will learn to Grade 6 now. Wahaha. But neh. I stopped there and then. Sigh.

It'll be good to have a dream. Ren yin meng xiang er sheng cun (aka Dreams help to keep us alive). So, I'll let you know when I finally fulfill my dream since childhood.. =) Somehow, music also reminds me of ishi.. and maybe subconsciously I wanna do it because of him too..

Rightey!! jw, u'll support me hor? Hee. My most faithful blog reader and bf. Support as in mentally, not financially. Keke. But of cos lar, if I'm gg sweden, then i have to take up music course in Sweden then.. wahaha..

Till next time, Tata!! Be back for our Paris update.. where the most beautiful thing happened to me on our Europa trip.. Our engagement on 29 July 2007..

Beautiful Brussels...

After saying byebye to dad and mum on 25 July, jw and I were on our own for the rest of our Europa trip. Woohoo. 2 weeks of er ren shi jie. Been waiting eagerly for it to come, although it was also very much enjoyable spending time with his parents, Uncle Will and Auntie Julia. I was really excited the moment we stepped into Nijmegen train station, all ready to embark on our journey to Brussels, Belgium.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.usIt was a short one-hour train ride and due to the overcrowding, we had to stand all the way right outside the WC in the train, along with at least 7-8 other passengers. Keke. Wow. Dear was saying it was very smelly, I thought he was referring to the stench from the toilet, but neh, he was actually saying the guy beside him. Either had BO or was sweating too much from trying to hook up with some other gals on the train. =) I like the feeling of us dragging our luggage and carrying our barang barang in the middle of a foreign place, both trying to navigate. Sometimes we had differing opinions, and sometimes we got really exhausted, but the most important thing is that we didn't give up on each other and we held on together throughout our journey. Poor jw had to carry my luggage up and down COUNTLESS number of staircases though, considering that 99% of the metro stations we went had no elevator. Handicapped-unfriendly. *shakes head* At Brussels, we also bought our train tix to Paris for the next day. Yesh, we were only gonna be in Brussels for 1 day, so every moment was precious. Guess where we stayed here???? TA-DAH! Yeah, HILTON!! It wasn't that ex, think bout S$100+. But Wow, we had a king size bed and a superb view and the TV reads "Mr Low, Welcome to Hilton.. " The bathtub was the best we had too, even the lights were automated.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.usSoon after we checked in and had a good bath, we set off to explore as much as we possibly could before sunset. We took the metro to Heysel station (yeah I took pics at the station cos it resembles Hazel and me and jw said we will compete and see who found more of our friends' names, keke). We managed to visit MINI EUROPE, which is something similar to Madurodam, but hey, this time round it introduces all the countries in EU. Wow. That's alotttt. I realised my geography is really bad (yar, i knew this long ago lar) and I really don't know alot of the countries' capitals.

At Mini europe, we took tonnes of pics and videos so that we could let Mum and Dad see. That was the plan lar. We also played this game where you put in 1euro coin and you can use a steering to control a mini boat, main purpose is to navigate it through the two poles and you win. Ehhhh. Jw is a sailor ley, how to fight with him... But the dumb thing is I didn't recognise which was my boat till like a few min after we had started. (I tot I was the red one, but neh, it was moving because jw's boat kept bumping into it. My 'real boat' was somewhere behind knocking into the rocks because i keep turning the wrong way) Sometimes I'm really silly. =( We also played a trivia game where you have to guess the capitals of the EU countries, and the fastest finger gets the most points. Well. Hmmm. I tried my best. Haha. There was yet another game that measures your weight. Mine was 47 and jw was 61, till he took off the backpack and became 58. Ehhh. Our bag was 3kg. That's ok. what's more worrying is that jw is only abit heavier than me and maybe one day he can't piggyback me no more. Sob.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.usWe saw the mini Eiffel here. Hee. And we said we muz take lotsa pics and then compare it with the real Eiffel when we see it tmr. Well. What a difference. But like Madurodam, I muz really say that Mini Europe was quite impressive in terms of the details they pay attention to. I bet everything was built in almost perfect proportion to the real monuments. At Mini Europe, every station had a button which you can press, and everytime you press, something happens. Like a volcano will erupt and the ground shakes (it scared me wor), or their national anthem begins to play, or the lightings come on, or some boat/car starts moving. It was indeed quite fascinating. =p

Image Hosted by ImageShack.usWe also saw the Atomium, which looks exactly like this pic. Alas our timing didn't allow us to enter it as it was closed by the time we toured Mini Europe. I also wanted to visit Planetarium, where you can see the galaxy, the stars and all the solar system stuff. But after much effort locating the place, we were only able to take pics at the already closed entrance. Haha. Haiz. It's ok. Maybe one day we will be able to visit these places again.. =)

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Now, the best part of Brussels had to be the Grand Place. We were both simply amazed when we reached there. Beautiful, magnificent, gorgeous beyond what we could possibly describe. We were surrounded by buildings which overlooked us with such splendor that we could just spend so much time absorbing that sensation we felt. Wow. Yesh of cos, we took many many videos and pics, and we stayed there for longggg. There were so many people sitting in the centre, doing nothing but just admiring the surroundings with their friends. It's like, there's a sense of tranquility here that I can't find in S'pore. =) I was determined to visit the Manneken Pis (the wee wee boy) since we were in Brussels, but we decided we will come back to the Grand Place after that to admire it again. Woho. Jw was so stunned by the beauty too. What a perfect place for us to be at, together, the first day that we were alone. =)

Image Hosted by ImageShack.usRight. So we did really find Manneken Pis. =p It wasn't that far from Grand Place. & on our way there, we actually met this human statue dressed up as Van Gogh (there was a real Van Gogh statue beside it). Initially I didn't know which one was fake, till he moved. Wooo, scared me again. But I was quite fasincated by him and guess wad, he motioned for me to go over and ask jw to take pic for us. But he grabbed my shoulder and neck with such force that it hurt abit and I was quite overwhelmed by his friendliness. Haha. Then he asked jw to come into the pic and his friend next door to take a photo for us. Wahhh. Both of us had the same thought that the guy might run away with our camera, but luckily he didn't. (ehhh, not that the camera is still with me now lar. waha). But well, nothing's for free in this world. In the end he told us to give him 2euros. well well. Alritey. Yeah. So the pic on the right is the wee wee boy. Sooo many pple were there too, taking pics of it. He's not dressed up today, probably because it's summer time. Sometimes they dress him up according to the seasons or festivals. It's quite fascinating how things like this become national tourist attractions and people from all over the world travel here just to see it right? Like jw says, it's just a statue. But in Denmark he did the same thing too, and walk for kilometres just to see the famous little mermaid statue. Keke. Maybe our Merlion has the same appeal to tourists too!

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Back to the Grand Place. Wow. Ain't it pretty? We bought some Belgium chocs and munched it over beer. I tried some cherry beer and jw tried their local brand beer which was really smooth and not very ex. The feeling was just amazing. Peaceful, loving. & to our surprise, at night, there were lighting performances every half an hour. It took place at this tall, white tower which jw felt was the prettiest building there too. I couldn't really grasp what the narration was about, but it was good enough watching the lightings. We would just lie down in the middle of the square, looking up at the tower, and nodding in mutual agreement that the moment was so perfect. Can you imagine us lying down there, right in front of the building? Keke. Yesh, we did.

Boy oh boy. We had a good night's sleep on our king size bed that nite too. Jw said muz cherish cos he really dunno how the rest of the hotels will turn out to be like. Hehe. well. Doesn't really matter to me so long as he's here. & I guess we can overcome all odds together, right? Yar. I really didn't know what was in for me for the rest of the trip. Wahaha.

Be back for the next country.. Paris.. our favourity city of all.. Tata..

You are loved...

15 Aug was Ishi's 49th day of leaving us. I dunno if he felt our presence at the temple, I dunnoe if he read the card I wrote for him, I dunnoe if he heard me listening to his songs on the streets of Paris, I dunno if he remembers coming to my dream where he, me and Aaron had a good long heart-to-heart talk..

I wish I knew, but I really dunnoe anything.. I can only hope that he has moved on to a better, happier life and forgotten all the sorrows and pain he went through..

Hoping to see him in my dreams again someday.. because it's the only place I can see him, feel him and hug him now..

We all miss you and love you lots, dearest ishi.. I love your CD and your compositions, I love hearing you sing, I love seeing you dance, I love the way you laugh, the way you put your head on my shoulder, the way you write your name on my lect notes, love everything about you..

Alluring Amsterdam..

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us Haha. Finally I'm going to write about the second country.. Bear with me yar.. Work has been keeping me real busy this week.. *yawnz*

NETHERLANDS! The country with the milkmaids and windmills. Who would have tot I will make a trip here at the age of 24. Well, I didn't at all! But I'm so happy I did. Esp it was time well spent with junwei and his daddy mummy. Yesh, we were all there, together. =) For 3 days! Hee.

Firstly, we ate bah cangs! Woohoo. Bah cangs in holland. Of cos, the bah cangs are made by daddy mummy. Guess wad? Their luggage was 35KG when they flew over. Because they carried stuff like mushrooms, glutinuous rice, dried schrimps, bah cang leaves etc.. and they made like over 50 bah cangs!! Woohoo.. everyone in sweden and amsterdam luvvv the bah cangs.. keke..

Image Hosted by ImageShack.usLike us in the dutch costumes? We took this in volendam. Hehe. Uncle william and auntie julia (dad mum's childhood frenz) brought us dere. They are really nice and friendly people, and are one-of-a-kind couple. Never stop bickering, never stop nagging at each other, never stop complaining, but yet you can see how deeply they are in love. It was really amusing when Uncle Will accidentally reversed his car and ran over Auntie Julia's foot. They never stopped harping on the matter, each trying to prove the other wrong. Just so farnie. =) Back to the pic, well, don't need to tell me. Yes i look so ROUND! Haha. Round-faced shuang. The hat, the costume, the hair juz makes me look so farnie. Wahaha. But hey I LOVE the pic. (ehhh, i guess it's one of the few pics i have left rite???) It's very precious to me u noe. Hehe. We look happie and contented with life. I think we really are. =)

Besides Volendam, we also visited Amsterdam and Rotterdam. Hee. All the dams. In Amsterdam, we saw the magnificent Dam Square and also the human statues there who didn't allow us to take pics of them unless we gave a token of appreciation. Wow. There were plenty of these human statues in many parts of Europe. =) Had lunch in Chinatown, and also visited the Red Light District. Read in Lonely Planets that there is a total of 450 windows in the Red Light District. Dunno if I remember wrongly. We also visited the coffee shop in Amstel. Haha.

Next, guess whose house we went to??
Ta Dah!!

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Yes, Anne Frank! Finally got to see her house. We queued for like an hour. Haha. There were many animal portraits outside her house, guess it was sort of an exhibition, and we took tens of pictures wif us in the animal poses. Too bad can't post any here yar. It was quite an experience reading and listening more about Anne Frank, her family, the war and visiting her bedroom, living room, 'hidden rooms' etc. Hope jw was not too bored by this cos i was the one who wanted to come.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us Regarding accommodation, we stayed in Nijmegen at Uncle William and Aunt Julia's house. It was a simple and nice two-storey house. The stairs were really steep and narrow and it always felt like we will tumble and fall when we walk up or down. & hey, guess wad? becos dad mum took up the guestroom, me and jw ended up staying in the storeroom. Hee. It was quite an experience too. Narrow, squeezy, with just enough room to place a mattress on the floor. Hehe. but we like it. =) Quite an unique experience anyway. I have so many unique experiences on this trip. Aunt Julia insisted that we took their master bedroom, but how can we. So pai sey. Storeroom works just fine, as long as we are together. This pic is a statue we saw at the Market Square, it's actuallie a famous statue of Mariken (of coz we din noe at dat time). Funny thing was Mum, jw and me took turns to do the exact same pose and took pic. Mum was really spontaneous and funny! Hehe. 4 of us had a nice walk at the market square when uncle and auntie were at work. We ate super yummy lychee ice cream, had coffee, took nice pics, and basically just enjoyed every moment of the afternoon. Wow. It just feels so good.

4 of us also visited Madurodam! Aka Xiao Ren Guo. Hehe. It's like a Mini Holland and you see miniatures of almost everything. They pay such close attention to even stuff like the people, the trees, the roads, and had mini moving trains/trucks/cars/planes. It was my first visit to anything of this sort and quite an eye opener for me.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.usWe took so many pics here too! Hee. It was so pretty. & I also wanted to capture as many memories as I can for jw's daddy mummy. Dunno when's the next time they'll come Holland. What's more, dunno if my parents will ever come Holland and I also wanted to show them whatever that I saw. But nvm. Things in life are fated. Luckily jw's mum also took some pics here wif her own camera and I guess I'll grab them from her someday. Hehe. Point of story: Never think that less mega pixels cameras are useless or not as good because it turns out someday you really need them. =)

Image Hosted by ImageShack.usWe also travelled to Den Haag and visited the Scheveningen beach. Oh did I mention we spent many many hours travelling in the car? Uncle Will drove. Me, jw, mum and aunt julia squeezed at the back and I would always sit in btw jw's legs. Quite comfy cos can lean back and feel him ard me, but not comfy cos half my butt was off the seat most of the time and my back really ached. But well, it's okie. How many times can I do this in my life.. =) Hee.. love watching the scenery as the car zooms past every different place..

Image Hosted by ImageShack.usThere were so many beautiful seagulls flying around at the beach. I actually managed to take a few nice shots of them in the clear blue sky (eh, this one not by me lar of cos). It's really a nice sight. They will also fly down if someone feeds them. When we were there, Uncle Will asked us to try eating this raw fish which he said it's reallie nice!! Like a delicacy. Well. Errrmmm. We tried, but both of us dun really noe how to appreciate. Jw actuallie took a piece and fed the seagulls. Kaoz. Sorry uncle! Hehe.

Wooo. We also took nice pics at this famous windmill that Uncle Will drove us to. It was raining but we still braved the rain to take the pics. Me and jw, then Dad and Mum. Two loving couples. & yar, we also visiImage Hosted by ImageShack.usted the Casino here. wahaha. As usual, jw played the Carribean Stub. Luck was down for him, and it got better when mum or I sat down. haha. I got three of a kind! Hehe. But, we still lost over $180 despite winning quite abit back at the Blackjack table (we seldom and never play or win Blackjack!)

Well. I guess this sorts of sums up what we did in Netherlands. =) sorry to mum for losing all her fotos. Like she says, maybe it's fated they have to visit Amsterdam again, and we have to visit the other places too in future. Or rather, i choose to believe that if memories remain in our hearts, that's enough isn't it? The feeling will always stay. All in all, it was a good 3-day stay in Amsterdam and I love Uncle Will and Aunt Julia. We even sang KTV at their house one morning. Haha.

Time to sleep.. need to collect my passport at 8am later and it's past 2 now.. woohoo.. hope you liked this post.. be back for the next country soon.. nitezzz!!

Sweet Sweden..

Well well.. it's been 2 days since I've been back.. settling back into s'pore life again.. feels good to be back home, yet sad to be away from jw again.. two and a half weeks just ain't enough.. but well, at least I think we made every moment count.. such a roller coaster ride we had, with all the ups and downs dat we went through.. but as we both believe, it's the bitterness of life dat makes us appreciate the sweetness of it.. and if we do not experience any downs in our lives, we will never truly understand how it feels to be up.. rite? the most important thing is that we stick together and no matter wat happens, we hold on and don't let go..

since I've only got sweden pics to share now, the first country I'll be talking about is sweden.. jw stays in a small town called karlskrona, peaceful, quiet, beautiful.. the pple are are quite frenly, and it looks like a good place to stay in.. although small, it has most of the facilities like supermarket, mcdonalds, fashion boutiques, pharmacy, electronic shop, cafes, cinema etc.. not much clubbing here though, so don't pin too much hope on dancing your nite away or getting drunk on booze amidst the disco music..

What's more beautiful about it is the scenery it offers.. there's a giant lake right in front of jw's house in styrmangatan and we can catch the sunset from there.. also a huge rock where you can climb up for a more magnificent view.. the skies are pink during sunset, real pretty.. There are ducks and swans swimming on the lake.. we were lucky to actually see the parent swans and their 7 babies!! 7!! Usually they go into hiding and this was the first time jw saw them after so many months.. hee.. lucky shuang, for once on this trip! =p

Our days here were simple but happy. No rushing around like we did in all the other cities, esp Paris. Every afternoon, jw would come back to have lunch with me during his break since his base was less than 10mins away. Then at nite we cooked a simple dinner together. It just feels so simple but so blissful. You know what i mean? I do believe life needs to be simple, because the happiness of it lies in its simplicity.. The dinner was one of the best I ever had.. Real happiness boiling in me.. maybe that's why the theft had to happen to me.. to let me understand dat you don't need too much money, you dun need the magnificent eiffel tower or louvre, you dun need so many things, in order to feel truly happie.. because being loved, on its very own, is something to celebrate about.. yes, i love the 2000 pics we took.. but maybe, maybe, life is teaching me a lesson that the best things in life are not to be seen, but to be felt.. and now dat we've felt it, i guess we ought to be really contented.. right dear? =) reallie love learning to cook wif ya and waiting for ya to come back every day..

Jw also took me for a spin and small walks nearby his house.. wow the supermarket stuff are sure expensive, especially the vege! only the pig bones are cheap cos i tink only asians like to make soup using the bones but not the pple here.. we also went to this place up on a hill where we can catch a good view of the lake, the trees, the sun and all.. there were pple and kids bathing in the lake.. despite lotsa of insects flying around (jw said these are harmless, although scarily ALOT of them), and many shell-less black snails crawling around and makes me fearful of stepping on them and killing them, it was still a good walk for us.. jw even plucked two apples from the apple tree! Hee. We took some nice pics there, i guess, these are the nicest pics for the entire trip i have left to show anyone.. keke..

I love piggyback!! although i tink I'm getting heavier and soon I'll be too heavy for jw to lift me up.. woohoo.. he's not much heavier than moi worrr.. *faintz* I remember after our bag got stolen in barcelona, dear piggybacked me on our way back home.. it felt so warm and sweet.. although of coz out of the 1hr journey, i tink he hung in there for like 6mins? haha. better than nothing. =) thank you!! he always say that i laugh like a baby when i'm being piggybacked.. esp when he starts sprinting, i will laugh uncontrollably.. haha.. yup.. there's a touch button there.. but good wat.. at least it's for sure that something makes me laugh during the toughest of times..

I love using the self timer to take pics of both of us.. haha.. cos I sux at holding onto the camera and taking pic of us because I'm bound to cut off some part of us somewhere.. hor??? jw insist that men have more common sense and dat this is an example of his theory.. OKIE.. thanks.. haha.. but see, this pic that i took was the best one we had.. during sunset on top of the hill.. and after a few tries of the sepia mode and the positioning of the camera on the bench.. don't u tink it's nice? Hehe. I tink so!!!!!!! Woohoo.. dat's us.. just us..

On my last nite in sweden, jw took me to his CO's house for dinner.. these are his two adorable sons, Gerald and Gabriel.. Gerald is 3 years old and hates chinese.. so the teacher instinct in me arose and i ended up playing some chinese jigsaw games wif him, in the meantime teaching him some chinese words.. hee.. glad he din take long to open up to me.. and guess wad? when he wanted someone to read to him a bedtime story, out of so many of us, he chose moi.. keke.. jw say it's natural becos he is hum sup.. wah kaoz.. i tink it's because we had an affinity? Hmmm. It took long to read the story to him because he kept fidgeting or standing up when he was sitting on my lap, or he will utter some blabberish.. but haha, dat's why kids are so adorable.. so is Gabriel, who just learnt how to walk and keeps drooling and making a "eeeeee" shriek whenever he can.. =) It was good to see my kids in berries again yesterday.. luckily they haven forgotten wu lao shi although i was away for so long.. well well, almost come to the end of my sweden stay... had some unforgettable memories there too, and it will be etched in my heart for a longgg time to come..

See the pretty flowers that I took pics of in Sweden.. so many different flowers, but this is fav pic.. Keke.. Looks so much like computer graphic rite.. hehe.. Canon cameras are good.. You shd see the pics of the Versailles garden that we took in paris.. Fwah.. breathtaking.. =)

My journey back home was one filled with hiccups.. firstly i had to fly from denmark to amsterdam alone, with an emergency travel doc that doesn't state amsterdam as part of the route.. so obviously i was questioned and interrogated several times by the immigration officers.. secondly i had to wait for the flight to s'pore alone at amster.. it was gg to be a long 5-hour wait.. and when i went to check the timing, i realised the flight was delayed by another 2 hours!! well then, time to munch on some lunch and read my book bahz.. by the time it was 8pm (flight at 11.45pm) after 4 hours of waiting, i went to check the timing again and guess wad.. my flight was cancelled!!! Wahhhh.. thanks ley.. the only flight dat's cancelled this entire nite was my flight, i tink i can buy 4D when I'm back.. i had no phone to call anyone, except for a compensatory 5-min call card from KLM.. besides, I had already exhausted the majority of my coins and had not much money left in my pockets.. Worse still, there was no one wif mi.. for the first time, i had the feeling of yi wu suo you.. (aka, having NOTHING at all)

After much effort finding the right desk because everyone gave me different directions, i queued up for long before finding out the details of the hotel that KLM has arranged.. at Hotel Ibis, a 15min drive from the airport.. oh well.. luckily i asked for some clothes to change into, dat's when KLM gave me a care kit wif a giant t-shirt and stuff like toothbrush n toothpaste.. it was strange being alone in the hotel.. most pple had company, except for a few loners like me.. good thing is dat i had a bathtub and i had a good time taking a long bath and soaking myself in the hot water.. wish jw was here though.. ain't nice being alone.. i tink i was quite brave to venture out of the hotel to take a few pictures, although i din go very far lar.. kekeke..

also had to find more coins because i needed to use the internet and informed my colleagues dat i can't make it back to office in time.. OMG.. their internet is sha ren fang huo.. a mere ten mins of use cost me S$6.. fwahhh.. woke up earlie the next day.. or rather, i couldn't get to sleep and onli slept from 4.30 to 6am.. wif no phone, was so afraid the wake up call was not enuff to wake mi up and i will miss the bus to the airport.. haha.. oh, did i mention my menses came when i was alone in the hotel.. wif nothing to change into? at dat point, i really sincerely believed watever can go wrong in my life WILL go wrong.. i was proven quite right, because my luggage was spoilt in the process, and on board the plane, firstly, my TV screen was spoilt and i had to change seat and my second seat was spoilt because it can't be pushed back and i was too lazy to ask for a change again.. wats more i sat right in front of the loo and every 3mins someone walks in or out.. wahahah.. it's just so farnie.. but well, i survived didn't i? & whatever doesn't kill you just makes you stronger..

Woooo look at jw's new haircut.. hee.. nice???? guess who was the barber.. YEAPPIE!!! ME!! keke. Did my best using the lousy scissors he had, and spent bout one hour cutting his hair and thinning it for him.. Keke.. Caused me a backache, but it's well worth it because he was so touched.. Hee.. Hope his CO doesn't scold him now for the 'pigtail' he had originally.. Fwah, cutting hair is really a form of art ley.. Challenging and also demands focused attention, and creativity!! Keke.. wonder how mummy survived as hairdresser in her younger days.. hmmm..

Rightey.. time for me to go...

good to be back here safe and sound.. wooo.. shall write up about the rest of my experiences here soon.. =) nitey!!!
