Yesterday, we went to Tiong Bahru Plaza to catch a show. Were deciding whether to watch The Departed, The Prestige, or The Guardian. Me & jw came to an unainimous decision to watch The Guardian, starring Ashton Kutcher & Kevin Costner. Me, becos' I like Ashton Kutcher loads and the movie trailer looks real exciting; him, becos' the show revolves around the US coast guards which has some association with the navy and the submarine.
The show was over 2hours long, but boy did we love it. =) I thought the show exceeded my expectations alot (I guess I'm a pretty easily satisfied gal, am I?). Some critics said the show wasn't good, but I really liked it. Well well. The parts that were memorable to me were:
1) when the old man almost drowned his wife in his attempt to survive. Survival instinct, they call it. Makes me wonder if it is really an every-man-for-himself world out there..
2) when Fischer asks: How do we decide who lives or who dies?
3) when Fischer demands to know how many people Randall has saved, and Randall says: "22... That's not the number of people that I save, but those that I let go. & that's the only number I keep track."
4) when both of them were hanging from the helicopter and Fischer shouts "I won't let go", but Randall lets loose his glove and falls into the deep wide sea...
To me, to be able to save others' lives is really a very noble and worthwhile job to do. Life is just so precious. I've dreamt of becoming a doctor, a nurse, or even a medic just so that I can help to save lives and pull people away from the arms of death, to lend sick/dying ones a supporting hand in times of need, to bring good to the people in this world. Well well, but in reality I'm embarking on my journey in the media industry and that makes my dream feel even more distant than it already was. Gosh. Why didn't I study medicine, I wonder to myself sometimes.
Anyway, I think the theme song for the show, titled Never Let Go is really a meaningful one. Every line of the lyrics struck a chord somewhere, and I was really touched by it. If you have the chance, go listen to it and see if you know what I mean. Maybe I'm just easily gan dong-ded.
Time to orh orh already. It's past 2am again.. Oyasumi.. ('',)
