It's my last day in Sweden today, and tmr I'll be flying back to Singapore. Strange, our Europe trip has only lasted for slightly over two weeks, but it feels like ages to me. But hey, I'm loving every single moment of it. Well, almost. =p It's been an exhilarating ride for me and jw, so now, let me share with you what we have gone through..
Let's start with the bad. Xian ku hou tian, you see.
Well, have you ever lost your belongings overseas? Well, we hadn't. We've been to Bangkok, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, but never have we had this experience that we had in Barcelona. I was so looking forward to Barce because they filmed Liu Xing Hua Yuan here and I tot it would be an amazing stay. Wanted to look for the water fountain where Shancai drank from too. But well, life doesn't always take the path that we wish it would. Well, here's a list of things that made me xin tong in Barcelona. All thanks to some lousy thief who doesn't care a damn about how precious the items might mean to the owner, yes, a lousy thief who muz be part of a professional syndicate who steal for a living becos they are damn good.
& the location of where we lost it? at a KFC near Sagrada Familia. Kaoz. The fast food restaurant I adore most. Usually when we walked on the streets, we would hug the bag tightly. Haiz. Should have done the same when munching on the chicken. But it was such a smooth job that it went right under jw's nose and we didn't realise it till our baobao was already gone. we dun recognize the thief, but we reckon the table next to us are the accomplices. sigh. Too late!!
what I lost:
- A brand new Canon digital ixus 75 (worth $550, but the near to 2ooo pictures we took in Netherlands, Paris and Brussels are priceless)
- A Samsung digital camera (our backup cam with some nice pictures too)
- A Lime video camera (with 300 videos taken along the way. some sweet, some romantic, some funny, mostly beautiful becos we wanna share wif daddy mummy wad we saw and wad we did)
- A new Adidas jacket I bought in tokyo
- Our passports (usually kept in jw's pocket except for today, talk about sueyness)
- A library book, Lonely planet guide on barcelona
- My shades
- My new Sony Ericsson phone (shucks, i need to replace again, arrgghhh)
- My ear piece
- Some souvenirs we bought
- some other misc stuff that i dun mind giving to the thief, if onli he gave us our passports and SD cards...
Wow, quite a list rite? I tot so too. Wahaha. Even more exciting part is that instead of clubbing our nite away in Barcelona (heard the partying is good here), we spent one nite searching for the police station and then waited for our turn to file a police report (u noe how long the process takes). This time, we were bagless. Only had jw's hp, his credit cards and some money in his pocket. All we had was each other. After we finally spoke to the officer and filed a report, we returned to the crime scene near midnite and spent hours rummaging through the garbage bins and huge garbage containters which could be found at almost every street. Because we still held on to a very faint hope since we could call through to my handphone. Don't understand why the thief did not shut it, but jw said it's most prob lying somewhere at the thief's house. Yar. Along with all their other stolen goods for the day. Well, how many garbage bins we searched, I lost count. Maybe 40-50? we muz have seemed like beggars to passer-bys, searching for food in the garbage. Keke. Everytime we lifted a lid, a hope arises. But it always dies because we always shut the lid and look for the next one. Time after time after time. It's worse than finding a needle in a haystack.
Street after street, we walked on. Side by side, hand in hand. I didn't cry that nite. I thought I will, but I didn't. I dunnoe why, maybe because I realised I can lose everything in the world, except my loved ones, except jw. I guess ishi helped me to understand this alot. Jw noes how precious the photos are to me, more than anything in the world. When I told him I lost all my treasures, well, he said I didn't. Because, my treasure is still standing in front of me. =) right. I started to wake up more and accept the fact that what's lost is lost. No matter how i moan and bawl and complain, if it's not coming back to me, it's not. Like I always believe in my life, everything happens for a reason. well, I guess we can only keep the memories in our hearts for years and years to come. just 2 of us. I swear the pics are really pretty!! Best pics I've taken all my life. No matter what happens, as long as we are together, as long as we are breathing and we are healthy, nothing else matters. We can always re-visit the places we love in future, although I know it won't be the same again. But we will!! Esp Paris Eiffel, where we weaved many happy memories there..
Isn't it true that when you lose something, you gain something else? Well, so I've written down a list of it.
What I gained:
- Witness the stunningly pretty sights in Europe. 1) Paris - Louvre, Eiffel, Arc De Triomphe, Montmartre, witness Tour De France final stage at Champ-Elysees 2) Brussels - Grand Place, Manneken Pis, 3) Netherlands - Amsterdam Dam Square, Den Haag Beach, fishing village Volendam, giant windmill, 4) Barcelona - Sagrada Familia, Park Guell, La Rambla, 5) Venice - St Marco, Gondolas 6) Sweden - nice old town Karlskrona
- A whole new experience of travelling around wif junwei, exploring our way in every country. Getting lost together, navigating together, sleeping, eating, drinking together. Great to get together again after not seeing each other for over 3 months
- Unconditional love from Junwei. he said no matter for good health or bad health, camera or no camera, we'll be together always. Yar, funny analogy. Keke. But that's what makes him so special to me.
Right. Jw is back. Just got gold for his IPPT, for the first time cos his 2.4km never makes it under 10min, but he did today. Whoopee!! I asked him if he was imagining that he was chasing after the thief. Haha. He said no, he was juz thinking about me. woooo. So i can inspire him to get gold for ippt, that's great. We are gg out for a walk today then dinner at his boss's house. He said there are two adorable kids I will like, Gerald & Gabriel. Woooo... I luv kids!!

By the way I forgot to mention that I accidentally delete our barcelona and venice pics (taken wif our newly bought camera). Yeah. I did. I am an idiot sometimes. Wanted to laugh and cry at the same time when i saw that I deleted the pics we painstakingly took on our last day in Barcelona by running ard to all the tourist attractions. & the shots we took in Venice. Sigh. It's fated, if you can't have it all, you can't have anything. So, NO PHOTOS!! Except for sweden lar. Wahaha. Jw was quite amused by my silly antic and didn't chide me one bit but consoled me. So understanding. So did mummy, whom I tot will scold me for losing my phone again, but she didn't and said she knows I'm devastated inside. Well, dear mummy, I was heartbroken for awhile, but I'm alrite now. because I have pple like you and jw in my life... what else can I possibly ask for...
tata!! Au revoir! I'll be back soon.. =) we wrote a song after penning down our thoughts on the trip. I bet you will laugh when you hear us sing.. title is "Zhi yao wo men zai yi qi" (As long as we are together), so juz be back to check it out soon.. Ciao!
